Pack
Meeting
The
pack meetings are intended for the entire family. The entire pack and
their families get together to celebrate the scouts' accomplishments
from the month and to have FUN together. The Pack meetings may include
award ceremonies, den skits, guest speakers, activities, or special
outings. Typically, we have a holiday program in December, a Pinewood
Derby in January, a Raingutter Regatta in the spring, and a Blue
& Gold Banquet in February that celebrates Boy Scouting's
birthday and includes our advancement ceremonies.
Leaders' Meeting
Held monthly on the second
Tuesday of the month, at 7:00 p.m. at Crestview
Presbyterian Church. All the den leaders and pack
committee members should attend. Also, any parent is
encouraged to attend as well to help us plan Pack meetings and
activities, special events, and to discuss policies and issues
regarding the pack.
Fundraising
Every year in the Fall, Pack 939
participates in the popcorn sale. This is our single
fundraiser, and it pays for the costs associated with the Pack's
scouting activities throughout the year. All boys are encouraged to
participate. If they (or the parents) do not like selling
door to door, they have an opportunity to sign up for a 'Show and Sell'
time where you can sit at a table outside a store and sell popcorn to
the public.
Fees
Registration for membership in Pack 939 is
$45.00/year. This fee pays for registration with the Boy Scouts of
America, unit insurance, awards, and supplies. A Boy Scouts of America
registration form must be completed for each boy during their first
year in the Pack.
Contact the Cubmaster or the
Pack Committee Chairman at any time if any of the costs associated with
your son becoming a scout are a problem. These costs can be covered by
the pack if needed and all requests will remain confidential.
Uniforms
Pack 939 requires a full uniform
for all Cub Scouts. Tigers, Wolfs, Bears, and first-year Webelos wear a
uniform that consists of an official blue uniform shirt, cap
(optional), belt, neckerchief with slide, and all required patches.
Webelos 2 can move to the tan boy scout shirt and belt. All Cub Scouts are required to
wear navy blue pants or jeans.
Volunteers
Parent volunteers are always needed. Registration
and training are provided by the Pack for those who are interested in
helping. If you'd like to help in any capacity, please contact the Pack
Committee Chairman, Cubmaster, or your son's Den Leader. All types of
help are needed--driving for trips, assisting in Den Leader absence,
etc. Remember that Cub Scout Packs don't exist
without volunteer leadership.
